Comprehensive Eye Exam Q & A

Why are comprehensive eye exams important?

Getting routine eye exams is important for numerous reasons. Comprehensive eye exams at Logos Vision help you detect vision impairments and eye diseases, such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and cataracts before serious complications develop.

Dr. Abadeer is a highly-skilled, licensed optometrist ready to meet all your vision and eye care needs.

What happens during comprehensive eye exams?

When you arrive at an eye exam at Logos Vision, Dr. Abadeer reviews your medical and vision history. She asks you about symptoms you may have, such as blurry vision, dry eyes, or eye pain, and may complete the following tests:

Eye muscle tests

During eye muscle tests, Dr. Abadeer evaluates your eye muscle movements while you follow moving objects. She checks for signs of muscle weakness and poor coordination.

Vision tests

Dr. Abadeer checks your vision using several vision tests. During a visual acuity test, she evaluates how well you can see from a distance using an eye chart. With a refraction assessment, you look through a mask-like device containing various lenses. Additional vision tests measure peripheral and color vision.

Dilated eye exams

During a dilated eye examination, Dr. Abadeer uses eye drops to dilate your pupils to get a better look inside your eyes. She examines the front part of the eyes and retinas in the back using special magnifiers and completes intraocular pressure testing to screen for glaucoma.

Imaging procedures

Imaging procedures help Dr. Abadeer take pictures of the inside and outside of your eyes and detect eye diseases before complications develop. She and her team offer optical coherence tomography (OCT), fundus fluorescein angiography, and high-resolution retinal imaging to get a better view of your retina and detect eye diseases.

Do I require treatment?

After reviewing the results of your comprehensive eye exam, Dr. Abadeer lets you know if treatment or vision correction is necessary. She might recommend:

  • Contact lenses
  • Glasses
  • Laser vision correction surgery
  • Eye drops
  • Oral medications
  • Surgical procedures

Dr. Abadeer refers you to a qualified specialist in your area if you have an eye disease requiring extensive surgical repair. She follows up with you after surgery so you can maintain optimal eye health.

Don’t neglect your eyes when simple screening procedures can detect eye diseases before they become serious or lead to vision loss. Schedule a comprehensive eye exam with Logos Vision by phone or online today.
